Mature Bald Eagle Warwick Castle Falconry Show Warwick UK

Another Bald eagle with the distinctive white feathers on it's head and tail of a mature bald eagle, was the third bird of prey at the Warwick Castle Falconry show in Warwick England. The falconer mentions that the white markings on the head and tail of this mature bald eagle are what people are what people think of when thinking of a bald eagle unlike the young bald eagle in the other video Young Bald Eagle Warwick Castle Falconry Show Warwick UK.  The falconer talks some more about bald eagles as he let this mature bald eagle soar around the grounds at Warwick Castle, over the castle and up to the top of one of the castle turrets and then back down over the crowd. Being so close to this majestic bald eagle and having it swoop overhead really was an incredible experience.
Bald eagles are birds of prey that feed primarily on fish. Being fish eagles, a bald eagle is able to lift fish right out of a lake or a river, or the sea in full flight with their massive feet. Bald eagles can have a lifespan of unto 70 years.

Young Bald Eagle Warwick Castle Falconry Show Warwick UK

A Bald Eagle, a young Bald Eagle was the second bird of prey shown at the Warwick Castle Falconry Show. The falconer explained how a young Bald Eagle like the one at the Warwick Castle Falconry Show, could be mistaken for a Golden Eagle because the feathers on the head of a young Bald Eagle haven't turned to the distinctive white that a mature Bald Eagle displays. Although this is a young balk eagle and not nearly as big as a mature bald eagle it is still a very large bird. Bald eagles are sea birds of prey found primarily in North America, they can have a wingspan over 2 metres and can fly unto 70 km/h.  Bald Eagles can live to be 50 or 60 perhaps even 70 years old.

Peacocks at Warwick Castle, Warwick England UK

Peacocks wonder freely at Warwick. The peacocks are big, beautiful and loud. The call of the peacocks resonates through out the grounds of Warwick castle and let everyone know the peacocks are there. In fact the calling peacocks let everyone know that there a quite a number of peacocks freely roaming the grounds of Warwick Castle.
Peacocks are not indigenous to the UK. Originally native to south Asia Peacocks were thought to have been introduced to western Europe by the Ancient Greeks and introduced to England by the Romans.

Why Nikon: The Nikon F3 The First SLR I Ever Used

Why Nikon: The Nikon F3 The First SLR I Ever Used

A Nikon was the first SLR camera I ever used. It was my brother's Nikon F3. The Nikon F3 was Nikons flagship professional 35 mm SLR.This was before the Nikon D4 or the Nikon D3, It was before Nikon made the D2x or the D2h or andy of Nikon D1 series. In fact it was before Nikon had anything digital. Nikon even had 3 flagship 35mm SLR bodies, the Nikon F4 and the Nikon F5 and the Nikon F6, after the F3, although they continued producing the F3 even after the F5 was released. So my brother lent me his Nikon gear for a week. The kit included his Nikon F3, a Nikkor 80-200 f4, a Nikkor 35mm f2, a Nikkor 20mm f2.8 and a 55mm f2.8 micro Nikkor. It was some great Nikon gear and I had no idea how to use it. So everyday for a week I shot with the F3. I practiced focusing the Nikkor Lenses, I played with the Nikon metering system, I adjusted apertures and set shutter speed. I loved every second of it and that Nikon F3 is a big part of why I used Nikon today.

Pebble Beach Eastbourne England UK

Eastbourne in East Sussex on the south coast of England has an amazing pebble or shingle beach and is the first pebble beach I've ever been on. Eastbourne and it's pebble beach is a popular tourist destination in the UK. The pebble beach stretches 6.4 kilometres across the seafront of Eastbourne. From Eastbourne's Sovereign Harbour the pebble beach extends west to the white chalk cliffs of Beachy Head.

Beachy Head Eastbourne England UK

Beachy Head Eastbourne England UK.
I'd never heard of Beachy Head until Mario and Vivian, our hosts a Coast B&B in Eastbourne, said we should go have a look. I'm very glad they did, Beachy Head is certainly worth seeing. The white cliffs of Beachy Head are located near Eastbourne in East Sussex, on the South Coast of England. Beachy Head is part of the Eastbourne Borough and the Eastbourne Borough Council owns the land around Beachy Head. Eastbourne purchased the 4000 acres around Beachy Head in 1929 to prevent any development. It is though to have cost Eastbourne 100 000 pounds to purchase Beachy Head and the surrounding land. The name Beach Head apparently has nothing to do with the beach at Beachy Head but is thought to be the evolution of the French term Beauchef meaning Beautiful Headland now Beachy Head. At 530 ft above sea level, the white cliffs of Beachy Head are the highest Chalk sea cliffs in the UK. The height of these  beautiful chalk cliffs also gives Beachy Head another unfortunate distinction, that of a popular suicide spot. The white chalk cliffs at Beachy Head are very shear vertical cliffs as the sea is continuously eroding the chalk cliffs at lower levels causing the upper levels of the chalk cliffs to collapse.

Lunch at Campo De Fiori Food Market Rome Italy

Lunch at Campo De Fiori Food Market Rome Italy
While wandering around the Campo De' Fiori Food Market in Rome Italy, you can't help but get a little hungry especially if you're there around lunch time. All the food the vendors sell looks so fresh and tasty you have to try something. We decided on a porchetta panini or roast pork sandwich and just like the Campo De Fiori food market, it did not disappoint.

Campo De' Fiori is a busy square in Rome Italy that plays host to an open air food market that is very popular among tourists and I'm sure locals as well. With it's spices and fresh produce, there's even a meat vendor where you can get a great porchetta panini, the Camp De' Fiori Food Market has something for everyone and is definitely worth a vist when you're in Rome.

Shore Fishing Off The South Coast Eastbourne UK

Shore Fishing Off The South Coast Eastbourne UK

Shore Fishing Off The South Coast Eastbourne UK.
I happened onto a shore fishing competition while wondering along the amazing pebble beaches of Eastbourne on the south coast of England. When I saw the gentleman in the video walking down the beach with all his shore fishing gear, curiosity got the better of me. Although he was the only person I could see on the beach with shore fishing gear, he told me he was in a shore fishing competition that was going to start shortly.

Campo De Fiori Food Market Rome Italy an Entertaining Vendor

While exploring the Campo De' Fiori Food Market in Rome Italy, I came across the stall where this man was entertaining the tourists with his sales pitch. I don't know how good his food prep too is but of all the vendors at the Campo De' Fiori Food Market he was always the most crowded so I'm sure he was doing well.

Victoria Memorial Outside Buckingham Palace and Buckingham Palace London England. The Victoria Memorial outside the main gates of Buckingham Palace in London England is a memorial to Queen Victoria, the first sovereign to reside in Buckingham Palace.
Constructed of 2300 tons of marble the Victoria Memorial was dedicated in 1911 by two of Queen Victoria's grandsons, George V and Wilhelm II of Germany and Sir Thomas Brock was the sculptor of the Victoria Memorial. The final bronze statues were installed in 1924 completing the Victoria Memorial outside the main gates of Buckingham Palace.
Buckingham Palace and The Buckingham Palace Victoria Memorial London England. Buckingham Palace in London England is an obvious must see for anyone travelling to London England. As well as being the Queen's residence in London England, Buckingham Palace is also her primary workplace. Buckingham Palace is one of many historical icons in London England and seeing Buckingham Palace in person and standing outside the iconic main gates of Buckingham Palace was one of the highlight of our stay in London England. The Victoria  Memorial outside those main gates of Buckingham Palace in London England is both impressive and beautiful. Buckingham Palace is a most appropriate place for the Victoria Memorial as Queen Victoria was the first sovereign to take up residence in Buckingham Palace and was the first sovereign so leave from Buckingham Palace for their Coronation. Although we didn't have time to find out about tours of inside Buckingham Palace just to see Buckingham Palace and the Victoria Memorial outside Buckingham Palace and St James Park, across from Buckingham Palace was quite impressive. On the next trip to London England we with definitely go back to Buckingham Palace and find out about tours of the inside, where, I'm certain, Buckingham Palace really shines.

Born to Run: Dryland Dog Mushing / Carting National Championship

I had the opportunity to be part of the film crew at the Dryland Dog Mushing Canadian National Championship in Bristol Quebec. This was my first experience at a dog mushing or dog carting competition and it was amazing to see the passion of the participants and the excitement of the dogs. These dogs are truly born to run. Dryland dog mushing or carting really is like dog sledding without the snow. For the participants, dryland dog mushing  is a sport they do for love and some travel all over the world to do it. For the dogs, dryland dog mushing or carting, provides exercise and discipline and helps keep working dogs healthy and happy.
